Annual Day

The Annual Day celebrations of Kids Club Matriculation, Tirupur, was celebrated with grandeur recently.

The stduents performed cultural programmes to give colour to the event.

The celebrations ended with the performance of oyilattam, mayilattam, karakattam and poikal kutbiraiattam by ‘gramiya kalaingargal,’ a group, to reinvent the traditional culture and Indian dance forms.

Minister for Highways M. P. Saminathan inaugurated the festivity in the presence of Mayor K. Selvaraj and C. Govindasamy, MLA.

Winners

S. Hariharan and B. Karthick, students studying inStandard X in Little Flower Higher Secondary School in Salem, won silver and bronze medals in the 54th National School Games Federation of India Taekwondo competition.

Championship

Students of Sri Vidhya Bharathi Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Neikkarapatti in Salem, bagged the overall championship shield at the district level literary and cultural competitions conducted by Salem Tamil Sangam. The competitions were organised to mark the birthday of poet Azha Valliappa. Students of the school secured two first prizes and a second prize to win the overall championship shield. R. Elakkiya, a Standard VIII student from the school, won the second prize (Group II) at the regional level Design a Stamp contest conducted by the Department of Posts.

Felicitation

The Vinakaya Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Fairlands in Salem, felicitated the winners of various competitions held at the district. Students from the school won a total of 41 gold medals, 26 silver medals and 28 bronze medals in various competitions.

R. Nivedha, R. Nikitha Kumari and S. Komala Devi participated in the national level gymnastics events, while K.S. Gowtham took part in the high jump event held at the national level. G. Lingeswar and M. Shanmugapriyan, members of the Bharat Scouts and Guides unit, were presented with Raja Puraskar Award.
