Regularisation of services, benefits on par with State staff demanded IKP authorities flayed for issuing show cause notices to protesters
Venting their anger: The road in front of the collectorate completely blocked by IKP employees in Anantapur on Monday. ANANTAPUR: Employees of Indira Kranti Patham (IKP) project on Monday alleged that the State government was neglecting them though they had been working hard to realise the government’s dreams of empowering women by mobilising them, creating awareness and taking them on the path of development. Employees of IKP from mandal samakhyas and grama aikya sanghams in the district gathered here to stage a dharna in front of the collectorate under the aegis of IKP Udyogula Sangham, demanding job security and fulfilment of assurances given by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy in July this year. Propagating schemesSpeaking at the protest site, district president of the sangham K.N. Narasaiah, secretary Mallikarjuna and others said they were being neglected by the governments for the last eight years. They were striving hard in the rural areas to create awareness among women on the government schemes and making them utilise the schemes properly. In the second phase of their agitation launched on November 27, they insisted that the Chief Minister fulfil the promises by him in July this year and issue the necessary orders. Regularisation of services and sanction of other benefits on par with government employees were their major demands. The Chief Minister had assured them of providing job security without regularising the services. But, he promise remained unfulfilled. They had given notice about the present phase of strike a month ago to the IKP management in the district, but the IKP authorities had started issuing show cause notices to those who on strike only to dilute their agitation, they alleged. Memo submittedLater, they submitted a memorandum of their demands to Collector V. Anil Kumar. Earlier, the IKP employees took out a procession from Arts College to Collectorate via Sapthagiri Circle.
