Transfer: Congress moves EC

Bangalore: The KPCC has complained to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to stay the transfer of an assistant commissioner who was the returning officer of the Karwar Assembly constituency during the Assembly elections.

KPCC president R.V. Deshpande in his complaint to the CEO said Assistant Commissioner Vijay Mahantesh, acting on a complaint, directed the assistant returning officer to prosecute Anand Asnotikar who won the election from Karwar. The poll panel had also directed the local authority to initiate criminal proceedings and consequently a case was registered before the JMFC, Karwar
