Spirited Opposition to take on Government

HYDERABAD: The Opposition parties comprising Telugu Desam, Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), CPI and CPI (M), have resolved to take on the government collectively on several burning issues in the Assembly.

Articulating their stand, leader of Opposition N. Chandrababu Naidu told reporters after a meeting of floor leaders of the four parties that it was decided to expose the government though it would try to see that the issues raised by them did not come up for discussion.

Eatala Rajender (TRS) said the four parties decided to see that a thorough discussion took place in the House by ensuring there was no wastage of time.

The aim was to elicit replies from the government which would, on the contrary, try to prevent the issues from coming up for discussion. The TRS would also insist on the House passing a resolution on separate Telangana for which all the parties had expressed willingness.

CPI (M) Floor leader Nomula Narasimhaiah said the parties decided to stay united and mount pressure on the government though Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy would try to provoke his Cabinet colleagues and Congress MLAs to scuttle their voice.

The parties were also aware that they would be accused of stalling the proceedings if they raised issues.

CPI Floor leader Chada Venkat Reddy said they would adopt a coordinated approach to confront the government.
