Guntur
GUNTUR: In a major accident, six passengers travelling in an auto-rickshaw were killed on Monday morning when an RTC bus bound for Amaravati collided with the auto at the Lam farm in Tadikonda mandal, 15 km from here. The impact of the crash was so severe that six out of the 14 passengers packed into the auto were killed and eight others were seriously injured. The identity of the auto driver was still to be traced. The accident has once again raised safety concerns over travelling in seven-seater autorickshaws and the increasing frequency of road accidents in the district. Five of the victims were identified. They were: Inumukkala Narasimha Rao (35), Bandaru Vijaya Raju (60), Bandaru Sarada (30), Emmanuel (30) and Saripudi Radhakrishna (40). Most of the commuters boarded the auto at Amaravati and were headed to Guntur, when the accident took place. Tadikonda sub-inspector P. Sarath Babu said that both the bus driver and auto driver had erred in judging the speed and the direction, leading to the crash.
