Renovate bridge

The condition of the overbridge that was built over the Tamiraparani during the British period in Srivaikundam in Tuticorin district is very bad.

It connects Srivaikundam with the Tiruchendur-Tirunelveli National Highway.

As of now, the vehicles have to wait on one end for the vehicles approaching from the opposite direction because of the narrow width of the bridge.

As a result, traffic chaos is a frequent sight in the area.

Some time back, around Rs.9 crore was allotted by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development for renovation of the bridge. However, the works have been unnecessarily delayed for unknown reasons.

Hence, I request the highways authorities and other officials concerned to look into this matter immediately and take steps to start the bridge renovation work as soon as possible.

P. Senthil Saravana Durai,

Vazhavallan, Tuticorin district.

Richness of spirituality

It was interesting to read the article “The task of taking India forward” The Hindu dated November 24.

Though India is not a rich country, in spirituality it is rich.

Swami Vivekananda’s speech in Chicago a century ago, attracted the Americans, who led a mechanical life and lived without peace due to broken homes till then.

The people of western countries started to come to India to attain spirituality. They have realised that money does not give peace of mind only the spiritualism can.

India’s richness is in its vedas and philosophies not in industrialisation or becoming developed country.

Examination results

TNPSC conducted Group IV examination on January 27, 2008, for 3368 typist and 507 stenographer posts and the result of which was published on the website on November 7, 2008.

But the cut-off mark under each reserved category was not entered thereby creating confusion and delay.

It would have been good if the roll numbers selected under each category such as OC, BC, MBC, SC & ST were notified. It is also mentioned that certificate verification will be carried out from December 2, 2008.

Roll numbers selected under ex-servicemen and physically handicapped quota should also be categorised and listed separately for the convenience of the candidates.

The above missing particulars may be carried out and posting orders issued without delay as already one year had passed off.

V. Kumar,

Thekkurichy, Kanyakumari district.
