Belgaum
Belgaum: The Belgaum district unit of the Janata Dal(S) is gearing up to host a divisional-level meeting of workers here on Thursday. However, the party is yet to decide on who will inaugurate the meeting being convened for presidents of all district, taluk and block units in the seven districts of Belgaum, Dharwad, Karwar, Bijapur, Bagalkot, Haveri and Gadag in the Belgaum Revenue division. It could be either the party’s national president, H.D. Deve Gowda, or the State unit president, H.D. Kumaraswamy, said general secretary of the party’s minority wing Faiz Ahmed Shaik here on Monday. He said that the meeting will apprise the office-bearers and workers of the aims and objectives of the minority wing. Janata Dal(S) district president Ashok Pujari said only two aspirants have submitted their applications seeking for ticket to contest in the by-elections from Arabhavi and Hukkeri in Belgaum district. He reluctantly disclosed the name of the party’s youth leader Arvind Dalvai as contesting from Arabhavi.
