Primary teachers put off dharna by a week

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Primary Teachers’ Association on Sunday announced postponement of its dharna on December 8 to 15.

Syed Showkath Ali, president, and N. Asha Kumari, general secretary, said in a statement here that the protest was being put off following a plea by some teachers keeping in view the Bakrid festival on December 9.

The union leaders charged the Government with adopting ‘negligent’ attitude towards the demand of primary teachers to implement Rs.5,750 as the basic pay.
