Nannoor temple to host Devi Mahatmya Sathram

Tantri to hoist ceremonial flag

Religious teachers to be honoured


PATHANAMTHITTA: The first ever Devi Mahatmya Sathram, a spiritual retreat based on Devi Mahatmyam, will be held at the Vallamkulam Nannoor Devi Temple, near Thiruvalla, from December 19 to 28.

Separate processions

According to organising committee chairman K.N. Raveendran Nair and general convener M.R. Satheesh, the text, ceremonial lamp, idol, ceremonial flag and holy mast would be brought in separate processions from Kollur Mookambika Temple in Karnataka, Panachikkad Saraswati Temple, Chettikulangara Bhagavathy Temple, Malayalappuzha Devi Temple and Chakkulathukavu Devi Temple respectively on December 19 afternoon.

Spiritual retreat

Temple Tantri Parameswaran Potti will hoist the ceremonial flag at 4.30 p.m., marking the beginning of the 10-day spiritual retreat.

P.K. Narayana Panicker, Nair Service Society general secretary, will inaugurate the Sathra Samarambha Sabha and Aswathi Tirunal Gouri Lakshmibhai of Kowdiar Palace will install the ceremonial lamp at the Sathramandapam.

Swami Samagranandan, president of Thiruvalla Sree Ramakrishna Ashram, will preside over the function. Karippakuzhy Sukumaran, SNDP Yogam union president, will release the souvenir on the occasion and Pallickal Sunil, Yajnacharya, will deliver the benedictory speech.

Mr. Satheesh said Akeeramon Kalidasa Bhattathiri, Tantri Samajom leader, would preside over the valedictory meet on December 28 afternoon, and Swami Amruthakripananda of Mata Amrithanandamayi Madhom would deliver the keynote address.

Gurupuja held

Meanwhile, a Gurupuja paying obeisance to religious teachers of both the Hindu and Christian faith in the locality was held as a prelude to the Sathram at the temple on Sunday.

Religious teachers Neelakantan Namboodiri, Kaviyur Sivarama Iyer, Thalayar A.N. Raghava Panicker, P.N.N. Chakyar, K.O. Joseph Karingattil, Chacko Chakkalayil, K. Divakaran, Kadammanitta Vasudevan Pillai, T.G. Purushothaman Nair and Vallamkulam Ramankutty Asan were honoured at the function.

The former Union Minister P.J. Kurien, MP, inaugurated the function.
