Bidar
After the Assembly elections, district unit of the party was dissolved Kumaraswamy will take the decision on appointment to these posts BIDAR: The Janata Dal (Secular) will now have both president and working president of the party in Bidar. The search for new district unit president and working president has begun to rejuvenate the sagging image of the party here. After the Assembly elections, district unit of the party was dissolved. The party won one seat through the former Minister Bandeppa Kashempur from Bidar South Assembly constituency while two sitting MLAs, Merajuddin Patel from Humnabad and Mallikarjun Khuba from Basavakalyan, lost the elections. Recently, the party announced its new district president for Gulbarga . Speaking to The Hindu here on Sunday, a senior Janata Dal (Secular) leader said that there might by two posts— president and working president — of the party in Bidar. The posts would be created to give representation to members of different communities in the district, he added. The leader said the decision on appointment to the two posts would be left to State unit president of the party H.D. Kumaraswamy. Prior to the announcement of candidates , prominent leaders would offer their opinion on the selection for the posts, he added. The leader said Hafeez Chand and Shaheen Patel from minority community, Ramachandrarao Gandge, Ishwarappa Chakote and Shantaling Soulge from Lingayat community, and Baburao Gore Chincholi from Maratha community were among other aspirants for the posts. According to Janata Dal (Secular) leaders, the party has a base in the district particularly in Humnabad, Basavakalyan, and Bidar South constituencies and it needs a leader who can motivate party workers to take the party to victory in the forthcoming parliamentary elections. Another senior leader of the party said the party depended heavily on Mr. Kashempur to strengthen it in the district .
