KATHMANDU: Alerted by the Mumbai attacks, Nepal is going to introduce new security policy for internal security and national defence.<.p> Government spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara said on Saturday that Nepal would tighten its security to ensure such attacks do not occur in the country. The government is serious about improving security, he said. Admitting that the 100 days of governance by the Maoists were not very productive, Mr. Mahara said the government should now focus on institutionalising the political changes in the country. A progress report was also released evaluating government’s performance. The report highlighted the following: the formation of a panel to integrate Maoist combatants, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s foreign visits and diplomats visit to Nepal. Meanwhile, Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala, who has criticised the Maoists for not starting the process of Constitution-drafting, said the Nepali Congress would now initiate the process.
