Jewels, cash stolen from house

MADURAI: Unidentified persons decamped with 37 sovereigns of gold and Rs. 5,300 in cash from a residence in Sathyamoorthy Main Road in Sellur here on Thursday night.

The police said that the inmates of the house of M. Renganthan had left the back door open on the terrace through which the culprits gained entry. They stole the valuables kept in an almirah. The crime came to light only in the morning. The Sellur police are investigating the case.
