Chennai: St. Joseph’s College of Engineering (SJCE) and Armed Police will figure in the final of the women’s event in the Sathyabama-State volleyball championship at the University Union on Sunday. In the semifinals on Saturday, Armed Police defeated Panimalar College of Engineering in a thrilling five-seter, while St. Joseph’s prevailed over GKM Club. The results: Men (quarterfinals): State Bank beat Sathyabama University 25-17, 25-21, 26-24; Indian Overseas Bank beat Tamil Nadu Police 25-14, 25-22, 25-16. Women: GKM Club beat SRM University 28-26, 25-21, 25-15; St. Joseph’s College beat PSGR College, Coimbatore 25-15, 25-7, 25-15. Semifinals: Armed Police beat Panimalar Engineering 20-25, 25-9, 20-25, 25-16, 25-20; St. Joseph’s beat GKM Club 24-26, 25-21, 25-16, 25-20. — Special Correspondent
