Aymar, Amat win awards

Los Angeles: Argentina’s Luciana Aymar and Spain’s Pol Amat were crowned 2008 World Hockey Players of the Year on Friday.

Both received their awards during a special ceremony on the occasion of the FIH Congress dinner at the Universal Studios.

Dutchman Maartje Paumen and Australian Eddie Ockenden received the Young Players of the Year awards.

The awards were presented by FIH President, Els van Breda Vriesman.

All the four players participated at the 2008 Olympics. This was the fifth award for Aymar, and fourth-in-a-row, with the first in 2001.
