Rail tragedy averted

Muzaffarnagar: A major tragedy was averted after guards found a three-inch-long broken track on the Delhi-Ambala section near Khatoli railway station, 20 km from here, reports PTI quoting Northern Railway sources.

The broken track near Tabita railway level crossing between Khatoli and Sakoti stations was found by gangman Mahendra Singh during routine patrolling on Friday.

He informed the authorities who rushed their employees to get the track repaired.

Rail services on the route were immediately suspended for about an hour as repairs were undertaken. After repairs, several fast trains passed on the route safely, sources added.
