Thiruvananthapuram: More than 7,000 delegates will attend the Congress party’s three-day State conference in Kochi from December 14 to 16. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala said the Congress president Sonia Gandhi would address a party rally in Kochi on December 15, besides inaugurating the delegates’ meet on December 16. Mr. Chennithala said preparations for the conference were in its final stages and the KPCC executive on Saturday finalised the programme. He said all party office-bearers from mandalam presidents upwards, presiding officers of local self-governments, office-bearers of cooperative societies, office-bearers of all feeder organisations from block president upwards, and heads of various cells would attend the conference as delegates. The office-bearers of the recently set up Indian Overseas Cultural Congress and the office-bearers of Central and State government employees unions would attend as associate delegates. The party would organise several programmes beginning December 11, including processions in the State. Mr. Chennithala said the conference would discuss six resolutions. The executive had appointed drafting committees which would submit the draft resolutions for discussions at the KPCC executive meeting in Kochi on December 13. He said efforts were being made to ensure the participation of the AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi.
