SALEM: Collector J. Chandrakumar on Saturday visited the Sri Lankan refugee camps at Athikattanur, Pavalathanur and Kurukkupatti and interacted with the inmates on various issues. Many inmates said that they were suffering from various ailments including heart problems. They demanded amenities such as roads, electricity, drinking water, better shelters and proper drainage facilities. The Collector told the inmates that he would take necessary steps to provide all basic amenities in these three camps. He would also consult the officials from State Highways on providing roads to the camps. He instructed the officials to provide basic amenities immediately. Many of the inmates also submitted petitions to the Collector on which, he said, action would be taken shortly.
