Minister to open pilgrim service centre

PATHANAMTHITTA: The Pathanamthitta District Co-operative Bank will open a service centre for Sabarimala pilgrims at the KSRTC bus station here on Sunday.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, president R. Sanalkumar and general manager M.P. Gopalakrishna Pillai said Minister for Devaswom G.Sudhakaran would inaugurate the centre at a function at the KSRTC bus station at 4.30 p.m.

K.Sivadasan Nair, MLA, will preside over the inaugural function.

C.K.Gupthan, Travancore Devaswom Board president, will inaugurate a free snacks counter on the occasion.

Mr. Sanalkumar said the bank would supply medicated drinking water, black coffee and snacks to all pilgrims visiting the centre during the Mandalam-Makaravilakku season.

He said the centre would also offer free mobile phone charging facility for pilgrims.

‘More welfare schemes’

Mr. Sanalkumar said the bank was planning to launch more welfare schemes for the pilgrims from the next Mandalam-Makaravilakku festival season.
