KRISHNAGIRI: Members of the Village Health Nurses Association observed a fast in Kaveripattinam Government Hospital on Saturday.

They demanded arrest of the Health Inspector Surya Prakash, who allegedly raped a nurse at the government hospital’s maternity ward recently.

Based on a complaint, the Kaveripattinam police have registered a case but have not arrested the culprit so far, said N. Sakuntala, State Secretary of the association.

Surya Prakash was suspended after a departmental inquiry by the district health department.

About 100 Village Health Nurses participated in the fast. Association President A. Alamelu presided over the fast. Secretary N. Sakuntala, treasurer A. Malarvizhi and district president P. Govindammal spoke on the occasion.
