Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Condemning the “vicious terror attack” on Mumbai, the Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) on Friday said the investigative and intelligence wings of the country must be freed of political pressures and compulsions of the discourse on terror.

In a statement, it said the terror attack on Mumbai was “a ruthless attack on the soul of India and Mumbai, a country and people who have always been hospitable to people from all over the world.”

“Implement police reforms”

The organisation demanded implementation of the structural and qualitative police reforms that have been repeatedly recommended by National Police Commission Reports between 1981 and 1989.

Signatories

The signatories to the CJP statement are Javed Akhtar, Rahul Bose and Shabana Azmi, activists Javed Anand and Teesta Setalvad, Alyque Padamsee. I M Kadri, Cyrus Guzder, and Arvind Krishnaswamy.
