NEW DELHI: Students, teachers, officials and staff of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University here on Friday gave a farewell to its founder Vice-Chancellor, Prof. K. K. Aggarwal, whose tenure will come to an end this Sunday. The farewell function was attended by Delhi Lieutenant-Governor and Chancellor of the University Tejendra Khanna, Delhi Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta and Vice-Chancellor-designate D. K. Bandyopadhyay. Dr. Bandyopadhyay, the erstwhile director of the Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal, will assume his responsibilities for the top job on Monday. An eminent IT expert, Prof. Aggarwal joined the University on December 1, 1998. During his tenure spanning a decade, the University emerged as a hub of professional education in the Capital, offering over 70 academic programmes through ten University Schools of Studies and almost 90 affiliated institutions. He expressed his gratitude to the employees, students and other stakeholders of the University.
