Police Duty Meet gets under way

CUTTACK: Inaugurating the 54th Police Duty Meet here on Friday, State vigilance director Anup Kumar Patnaik called upon the police force to take help of modern investigative techniques like brain mapping and automatic finger printing more and more to solve the complicated crimes.

Taking salute at an impressive parade held at the police headquarters on the occasion, Mr. Patnaik said duty meets were being organised every year by crime branch police to provide excellent opportunities for the officers to display their professional skill and capabilities in investigating crime.

He pointed out that such events were necessary to usher in a truly humane, efficient and socially acceptable force. “Officers exchange information on latest developments in various fields concerning training of police personnel,” Mr. Patnaik added. He said such meets not only hone the investigative skills of the police but inculcate in them a scientific temper to solve the new-age crimes.

At least 154 officers from different ranks and files are attending the meet which would continue till Nov. 30. Former DGP Gopal Chandra Nanda, who has been recently appointed the chairman of the State selection board, would be present at the concluding ceremony .
