KARIMNAGAR: A total of 12 candidates have filed their nomination papers for the byelections to the Karimnagar graduate’s constituency till Friday, the last date for the filing of nomination papers. On the last day, film director L. Srinath of Nizamabad filed his nomination papers as an Independent candidate. Mr. Srinath had written and directed Telugu films ‘Kubusam’ and ‘Ammulu’, in which introduced music director Vandemataram Srinivas as hero. He also produced several documentary films for the State government on various welfare schemes, including National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. Incidentally, he is a close associate of APCC president D. Srinivas. Earlier, Naradasu Laxman Rao filed his nomination as Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) candidate, P. Venkata Narayana Reddy as BJP nominee. Akarapu Bhaskar Reddy resigned as the town Congress president and filed his papers for the byelections as an independent candidate. Other candidatesThe other candidates who filed their nominations include; Alluri Malla Reddy, Banapuram Madhusudhan Reddy, K. Krishna Prasad, Ch. Kamala Kumari, Saya Reddy Marmilla, Makkaji Ram Raj, Mada Srinivas Reddy, Sripathi Sataiah, Kailas Srinivas. On the other hand, TRS and BJP candidates intensified their campaign for the elections by conducting meetings with the graduate voters in the district.
