KORAPUT: One policeman and five persons were injured near NALCO plant at Mathalput in Damanjodi of Koraput district in a clash between CISF personnel and some daily labourers working in the plant on Friday. It was occurred when some 40 labourers reached the main gate of the plant in the morning to go inside to work. The CISF personnel wanted everyone to have safety shoes for issuing entry passes. But the daily labourers got agitated as some of them were not allowed to enter the plant gate for not having the required safety shoes. The conflict went out of the control when there were attacks from both sides causing physical injuries. CISF office building and parts of the plant suffered damages with the stone throwing. While there were efforts to discuss the issue with their representatives, it could not bring any fruitful results and by the evening the disturbance was shifted to the market place in Mathalput area with people throwing stones on the police. The local police chased the crowd continuously to disperse people from the locality. However, no one was arrested in this connection and the situation was brought under control, Deepak Kumar, SP, said.
