Rajahmundry: Joint Collector K. Sasidhar has stated that the administration in East Godavari will complete issue of voter ID cards and ration cards before December 31.

During a surprise visit on Friday, the Joint Collector inspected the progress pertaining to voter ID cards at the Sub-Collector’s office.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Sasidhar said that in Peddapuram and Rampachodavaram divisions, they had completed the process of converting pink cards into white cards. Issue of new ration cards would begin on December 5. He said that they were setting up one DPL centre in each Revenue Division on a permanent basis. A mobile DPL centre would also be pressed into service in the district, he added.

“In Rajahmundry and Kakinada, there are two DPL centres as the number of voters is more. Five more iris cameras have be brought to expedite the work,” he added.

The Joint Collector said that in Rajahmundry, the RDO office received 19,000 applications. Till date, 7,500 Iris images were captures. Instructions were given to take at least 200 images per day, he said. The software would help delete and include names simultaneously, he added.

Mr. Sashidar said there was no need to purchase a stove, safety tube along with Deepam connections in the district.

Complaints

Referring to allegations that dealers were insisting on this, he said complaints on the issue could be lodged on phone number 6454341. Stating that 16,000 Deepam connections were pending disbursal in the district, he said that they would be given in a phased manner.

Some 650 connections were sanctioned for Rajahmundry city during this month, 1,000 more would be released in December and rest would be given in January and February next year, he said.
