KOLKATA: Sunil Kumar Sipaeya and Rupesh Roy won the doubles title of the $15,000 ITF men’s futures here at the JMTA Complex on Friday. The Sipaeya-Roy combine downed Nathan Thompson (USA) and David Savic (Serbia) 7-6(5), 6-0. India’s lone hope in the singles, Vishnu Vardhan, had an unfortunate exit as he was forced to retire, trailing 0-3, owing to severe back pain, in his semifinal against top seeded Alexander Satschko. The results (prefix denotes seeding): Singles (quarterfinals): 1-Alexander Satschko (Germany) bt Vishnu Vardhan 3-0 retd; 3-David Savic (Serbia) bt 2-Nathan Thompson (USA) 6-1, 6-7(2), 2-1 retd.
