Plastic bags banned in Kolli Hills

NAMAKKAL: In a bid to protect the pristine environment of Kolli Hills, the Namakkal district administration has banned the use of plastic and polythene bags in the Hills.

Collector U. Sagayam told the media persons here on Friday that the administration had taken up this initiative to improve the ecological health of Kolli Hills, the ancient kingdom of celebrated king Valvil Ori.

The ban would be implemented strictly and tourists have been asked to cooperate with the administration.

To promote tourism, two more waterfalls near the famous Aakasa Ganga waterfall would be improved and amenities would be provided, he added.
