Lacklustre show at fete

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: Day two of the Mahatma Gandhi University Youth Festival witnessed a neck-and-neck race between Ernakulam Maharaja’s College and St. Teresa’s College for the top position, with the former edging past the latter slightly.

Maharaja’s leads with 19 points and St. Teresa’s is in close pursuit with 18 points. RLV College, Thripunithura, and Sree Sankara College, Kalady, shared the third position when competition for eight events closed on Thursday evening. Both these colleges were tied at 11 points.

Lacklustre performances marked the day’s events. The much-awaited fancy dress and mimicry competitions held on Thursday failed to connect with the audience, thanks to the fall in quality of the performances on stage.

Senior mimicry artistes who had turned up to watch the mimicry event were also disappointed. Many were forced to leave the stage amidst shouting and whistling by the audience.
