NLC power generation drops

CUDDALORE: Electricity generation in Neyveli Lignite Corporation has come down drastically. According to NLC sources, the generation stood at just 150 MW on Thursday against its capacity of 2,490 MW. Since, all the open-cast mines were flooded with rainwater the excavation of lignite had come to a halt for the past four days. It was difficult to prospect the slushy lignite and transport it through the conveyor belts to the thermal stations.
