Students compete in drawing sketches on AIDS prevention

Students participate in a drawing competition in Egmore, on Thursday.

CHENNAI: About 50 students from various districts in the State participated in a drawing competition on prevention of HIV/AIDS at Presidency Girls Higher Secondary School, Egmore, on Thursday.

Organised jointly by School Education Department and Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society, the competition had students from classes IX and XI participating from districts. Some of the striking sketches by students were centred on peer education about AIDS prevention and significance of inclusive approach towards HIV-positive people. Directorate of Teacher, Education, Research and Training director D.Vasundaradevi inaugurated the competition on ‘Young People and AIDS.’

Participating in the valedictory function of the contest, School Education director P. Perumalsamy said the programme was aimed not only at AIDS education but also providing life skills to develop confidence among children.
