ASI complains against golf association
Legal Correspondent
HYDERABAD: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) informed a Division Bench of the High Court comprising Justice T. Meenakumari and Justice Bhavani Prasad on Thursday that the Hyderabad Golf Association (HGA) had undertaken construction activity in the prohibited area near Golconda fort.
The Bench was dealing with a writ petition filed by PUCAAR and Forum for Better Hyderabad, complaining that the authorities had not stopped the illegal construction, digging, etc by the HGA in and around Golconda fort. The HGA filed an affidavit on Thursday to the effect that they will not take up any activity which will affect the fort.
The petitioners also filed an affidavit contending that as long there is no permission as required under the act no activity can take place. Ms. Maheswari, Deputy Superintendent of ASI, who was in the court hall, informed the court that a wall and room were constructed in the prohibited area. The Bench asked the officer to file an affidavit and indicated that the illegal structures have to go and adjourned the case to Tuesday.
