City girl wins international painting contest

HYDERABAD: Yet another child prodigy has brought laurels to the city by winning an international painting competition. B. Nandini, a 10-year-old girl from ‘Sanskriti’, Rural Art Centre for Children at Hyderguda village, won the first prize at the 9th International Child Art Exhibition on environment organised at Tokyo.

She competed with 20,224 children from 58 countries at the event organised jointly by the Japan Quality Assurance Organisation, the International Certification Network and the UNICEF. Her painting titled ‘Cow and Calf’ impressed the seven-member jury into choosing her as the winner.
