House panel visits Virudhunagar

VIRUDHUNAGAR: The Tamil Nadu Assembly Public Accounts Committee, led by MLA, D. Yasodha, inspected various works and facilities in the district on Thursday.
The committee members inspected the construction work of library under Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam in North Devadhanam of Rajapalayam Panchayat union.
It also reviewed the construction of group houses under Indira Awas Yojana and construction of a cremation yard in Jameen Kollankondan.
The committee members also inspected various other development works in Rajapalayam and Srivilliputtur.
The members also witnessed the functioning of a mechanised match unit at Sivakasi.
Ms. Yasodha said that allowing the beneficiary themselves to construct houses under IAY by making additional expenditure over and above the Government assistance of Rs. 55,000 was a good move in the district. The panel would recommend implementation of the methodology in other parts of the State too.
The District Rural Development Agency Project Officer, J. Sadasivam, the Sivakasi Revenue Divisional Officer, B. Ganesan, were among those who accompanied the committee.
