Get maximum flood relief from Centre: CPI (M)

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has demanded that an all-party committee be constituted by the government to provide relief to the flood-hit people in the State without any complaints.

The State government should try to get the maximum flood relief from the Centre for carrying out relief operations in the State.

The state executive committee of the party in a statement here on Thursday said the government should give sufficient compensation to farmers who had lost their crops and to villagers whose cattle had perished in the rains.

As a majority of roads in the State were heavily damaged, steps should be taken to relay them at the earliest, the statement said.
