Bid to promote unity among children of the world

NEW DELHI: To bring about unity and camaraderie among children from different countries, Ryan Foundation is hosting a four-day International Children’s Festival of Performing Arts that opened at National Bal Bhavan here on Thursday.

The participating countries include China, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Germany, Romania, Hungary, Iran and Zambia. The opening ceremony on Thursday saw a presentation of contemporary Indian and Sri Lankan dances by students of Ryan International School branches of Noida, Rohini, Gurgaon, Greater Noida and Delhi’s trans-Yamuna area.

On Friday, stalls of national and international teams will be set up at the World Village where they will showcase and sell souvenirs and artefacts from their States and countries. The underlying objective behind organising the World Village is to give students from diverse countries an opportunity to exchange ideas and interact with one another.

On Saturday, there will be a ballet and dance-drama competition in which students of Ryan International School will perform Slovakian dance, Chinese dance, Spanish and Hungarian dance, besides Nigerian dance.

Sunday will see a one-act play and also a Directors’ Forum in which directors and leaders of international groups will exchange notes based on their experiences, demonstrate their working methods and report on the significance of theatre in their country.The Forum will help leaders of various countries share their ideas and working styles within the given infrastructure of their countries. With diverse political and economic backgrounds, the leaders will discuss the growth of performing arts among children in their countries.
