VELLORE: The administration has decided to strengthen security throughout Vellore district in the wake of the terrorist attack on hotels and public places in Mumbai on Wednesday and Thursday, and in view of the observance of the anniversary of the demolition of Babri Masjid on December 6. This was disclosed by Collector C. Rajendran at a consultation meeting on law and order, convened by him at the Collectorate here on Thursday. It was decided to provide additional security wherever needed. The police were told to be alert to prevent untoward incidents and maintain law and order. N. Arivuselvam, Superintendent of Police, Vellore district, A. Suganthi, District Revenue Officer, Vellore, Hanish Chaabra, Sub-Collector, Tirupattur, J. Vijayarani, Revenue Divisional Officer, Ranipet, R. Balakrishnan, RDO, Vellore (in charge), L. Ramadoss, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime), and Deputy Superintendents of Police P. Saravanan (Vellore), Gajendran (Ranipet), Pandian (Arakkonam), Suresh Kumar (Vaniyambadi), and Manoharan (Tirupattur) and tahsildars Palani (Vellore), Kanniyappan (Katpadi), and Shanmugajothi (Arakkonam) participated in the meeting.
