Champions League T20 postponed

Mumbai: The governing council of the Champions League Twenty20 has decided to postpone the eight-team competition which was scheduled to be held from December 3 to 10.

Teams from India, England, Australia, Pakistan and South Africa had been scheduled to play in the inaugural edition of the T20 league.

The decision to postpone the inaugural event was taken by the founding members of the Champion League T20, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Cricket Australia and Cricket South Africa. “We held consultations with all the stakeholders, the participating teams and members of the governing council after the unfortunate terrorist attacks in Mumbai on Wednesday night.

“It was agreed that in the best interests of all concerned, the inaugural edition of the Champions League T20 should be postponed,” said Lalit Modi, Chairman of the League.

A league official said that fresh dates will be decided next month for the six million dollar prize-money event. — Special Correspondent
