Top seeds struggle at sub-junior National

MANGALORE: Third seed J. Saranya of Tamil Nadu, the current under-13 National champion, suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Vanessa D’Souza of Mangalore in the BSNL sub-junior National chess championship here on Thursday.

In the boys section, top seed Prasanna Rao of Maharashtra faced stiff resistance from Akash P.C. Iyer of Tamil Nadu.
