The TDP leader was part of the Indian delegation that participated in the UN session Srikakulam: Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party leader K. Yerrannaidu, who returned from New York after participating in the United Nations General Assembly session for a fortnight, is elated at the privilege accorded to him by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by including him in the Indian delegation of parliamentarians. Talking to The Hindu here on Thursday, Mr. Naidu said that this was the second time he had been chosen to be a part of the Indian delegation. The first time was when A.B. Vajpayee was the Prime Minister. Eco concernsHe stated that he had the privilege of addressing several sessions on Afghanistan and India’s role in reconstruction of Afghanistan. India, he said, spent a staggering $1.2 billion on reconstruction works after that country was devastated by civil war. “We are now engaged in construction of a new Parliament building sponsored by our country,” he said. He said that the speeches of leaders revolved around conditions leading to environmental degradation, green house effect and black hole caused by ozone layer depletion. Members expressed concern at lack of adequate measures by developing nations in neutralising atmospheric pollution.
