Police intelligence strengthened

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said on Wednesday that the Kerala Police was keeping vigil against terrorist tendencies in the State.

Replying to a ‘calling attention’ motion by CPI(M) MLA Anathalavattom Anandan in the Assembly, he said Kerala had recently set up an ‘internal security wing’ in the police department. He said the police force would recruit over 4,000 officials. The State would also have an Indian Reserve Battalion soon. As many as 1,200 constables would be recruited for this battalion. —Special Correspondent
