Ban on teachers’ recruitment to be lifted

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The ban on teacher recruitments in government schools imposed in 2002 is being lifted, Education Minister M.A. Baby told the Assembly on Wednesday. He said that the 300 vacant teacher posts in government schools would be filled soon. The government would also permit aided schools in the State to fill their teacher vacancies.

Date of birth correction

Mr. Baby also said that children admitted to schools under wrong dates of birth would be given an option to correct dates in school records. Over 8,000 applications are now with the Education Department for corrections.

Up to the primary and upper primary school levels, the students could have corrections done by applying with relevant proofs to the concerned Assistant Education Officers.

In the case of high school students, the District Education Officers concerned would take decisions.
