Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: The city police stepped up security at all vital installations in the State capital including all defence research institutions on the outskirts and in Madhapur where software companies are located, on Wednesday night in view of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai.
Patrolling in all communally sensitive areas of Hyderabad has been stepped up and extensive vehicle checking was being taken up. All the shops and establishments were being closed down as a safety measure. “Hotels open beyond midnight were being closed down. We have undertaken extensive vehicle checking and inspecting all the lodges too”, DCP Hari Kumar, who is overseeing the security arrangements on Wednesday night said.
Police were checking all railway stations and an alert was sounded at all the entry points into the city. All the policemen on duty were deputed for patrolling duty. Police said all incoming passengers into the city at bus stations and railway stations were being checked.
