Harbhajan talks of a clean sweep

Principal Correspondent

Cuttack: Harbhajan Singh said that with the kind of cricket India is playing, a 7-0 verdict is a possibility.

"It is difficult to predict in cricket but with the way we are playing, we can beat them 7-0," Harbhajan said here on Wednesday night.

India’s spin spearhead expressed surprise at the way England failed to post 300. "I was surprised with the way Kevin (Pietersen) batted towards the end and they scored only 70 odd runs in the last ten overs. “270 was an achievable target and Viru (Sehwag) and Sachin set it up for us," said Harbhajan.

Harbhajan however refused to make a comment on the alleged security concerns of players with regard to the proposed tour of Pakistan next year. "We are focussed on this series and there has been no talk," Harbhajan said.

Not adequate enough!

Meanwhile England captain Kevin Peitersen said that even scoring 200 runs more may not be adequate to counter the Indians. "The Indians are playing so well and the kind of punches we can land in England, Australia and in South Africa, we can’t do it here because of the conditions.

“Sehwag is a super star and Sachin, I believe scored his 90th fifty, bless him," Pietersen said.

The skipper said that his team remains upbeat. "When a team starts losing, cliques get formed and players go their own way but that hasn’t happened with my team, it is a tight unit.

Committed bunch

“I did get a bit angry out there this evening, the bowling was bit short and wide in the first 20 overs but I can never fault the effort my boys are putting," Pietersen said.

About the niggles in the team, he said: "I am fine and I will play. (Stuart) Broad has a sore hamstring and Freddie (Flintoff) has a niggle and we will take a call on that before the Guwahati match."
