Heavily overcast conditions in State

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavily overcast conditions prevailed over Kerala right through daytime on Wednesday portending rain, as a cyclonic storm, nicknamed ‘Nisha,’ approached the Tamil Nadu coast on the other side of the peninsula towards the evening.

Tuesday’s depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal took the proportions of a cyclonic storm on Wednesday and lay centred at a point 50 km southeast of Nagapattinam in the morning.

Kerala falls within the outer sweep of the cyclonic system. India Meteorological Department on Wednesday forecast “isolated heavy rain” in Kerala during the next two days.
