Huge win for Pathanamthitta

KOTTAYAM: Pathanamthitta crushed Kottayam by an innings and 29 runs in the South Zone under-14 cricket tournament at the University stadium here on Wednesday.

After conceding a huge first innings lead of 175 runs, Kottayam was bundled out for 146 runs in its second innings. Pathanamthitta got five points for the outright win.

At St. Ephreme’s ground, the Kollam-Alappuzha match ended in a draw. Kollam managed to avoid innings defeat finishing the day at 122 for seven.

Earlier, Alappuzha, 92 for three overnight, scored 252 for nine in its allotted 70 overs. Alappuzha took three points for the first innings lead.

The scores:

Kottayam 84& 146 in 86 overs (Nirmal 48 no, Amal S.Kumar three for 40) lost to Pathanamthitta 259 in 70 overs (Amal S.Kumar 93, Vishnu 54, Prashob R.Pillai 44, Sooraj three for 58)

Kollam 100 & 122 for seven in 57 overs (Sirash 38, Sreejith three for 16) drew with Alappuzha 252 for nine in 70 overs (Anooj 46, Ananthuraj three for 49, A.Vishnu three for 69).
