Petition seeks judicial probe

Legal Correspondent

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has been moved for a judicial probe into the allegations of custodial torture of Sadhvi Pragnya Singh Thakur by the Anti-Terrorism Squad probing the Malegaon bomb blast case in Maharashtra.

The writ petition filed by advocate Kaushal Kishor Chaudhary also sought a direction to summon Maharashtra government authorities and the ATS to get their response.

The petitioner alleged, among other things, that the State police had failed to provide information on the grounds of arrest to the parents of the Sadhvi and the others. The ATS had conducted the narco analysis test on the Sadhvi twice but when nothing came out of it, it invoked the provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crimes Act. He sought a direction for ordering a judicial probe.
