CPI(M) seeks legal action

Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: The State secretariat of the CPI(M) has described as challenge to the judicial system and democratic norms the Indian Union Muslim League leadership’s reported threat to kill those who come forward to depose in the case involving the death of headmaster James Augustin during the agitation against the controversial textbook.

In a statement here on Wednesday, the secretariat said that known workers of the Youth League were the accused in the case. It was to save them that the threat had been issued. The threat was issued by P.K. Basheer, State working committee member, at a public meeting organised by the party at Edavanna. Union Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahamed, Abdussamad Samadani, MP, and former Minister M.K. Muneer were on the stage at that time.
