Call to improve facilities in residential schools

Kakinada: Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi has expressed regret that the conditions in social welfare residential schools are pathetic and called for concerted efforts under the ‘Sankshema baata’ programme to improve things. He said 13 out of the total 17 residential schools were located in government buildings and the remaining four were functioning from rented premises. When it came to facilities, none of them were up to the mark, he said. Addressing a meeting, Mr. Dwivedi said some works were taken up in residential schools with funds (Rs. 84 lakhs) sanctioned under the first phase of the programme.
