Purohit held in new case
Nashik: Malegaon blast accused Lt. Col. Srikant Prasad Purohit was on Tuesday arrested in a separate case for allegedly providing a friend with an arms licence using fake documents.
The Army officer is likely to be produced before a Nashik magistrate’s court on Wednesday in connection with the case, police officials said.
The case was registered on a complaint by Pune resident Shirish Date against Purohit in Nashik on November 16, claiming that a licence for a gun had been obtained for him by Purohit.
Date claimed that fake documents showing him as a resident of the military camp in Devlali were used to obtain the arms licence.
The Nashik police took custody of Purohit on Monday after moving an application before the special MCOCA court conducting the trial in the Malegaon blast case.
