CHENNAI: The police posted outside the Government General Hospital in the city have become more wary about those entering the premises. After a recent attack on a political party functionary allegedly by students of the Dr.Ambedkar Law College at the hospital, the police are asking visitors to show their visiting passes (in pink) issued by hospital authorities at the OP Block.

“It is to keep trouble-makers out,” a police official said. He added that only two visitors would be allowed to meet patients at night. On Monday night, several visitors wanting to meet their relatives and friends were caught unawares without the mandatory visiting pass at the hospital gate in Block II.

The police kept out those who did not have the pass.
